Epic Fail 2.0

So apparently a couple days ago there were lay-offs at SoE. Apparently one of the people who got the boot was TimeTravelling. This sucks as he was one of, if not the best Content Devs they had. I wish him well in his travels and hope he ends up over at Rift: Planes of Telara.


Aside from that there was some good news on the EQ2 forums. Apparently they are getting new hardware to replace AB and Nagafens World servers.

We have ordered new hardware to replace the overburdened Antonia Bayle and Nagafen. I'll shoot out an ETA once we hear more.

More recently they annonced that It should be happening in early August sometime.

The hardware for those upgrades should be installed by early August! Soon!

The hope is that this new hardware will reduce or completely remove serverside lag. Though even if it does I'm sure people will still complain about "lag" which is probably on their end not SoE's.

Someone mentioned that we weren't interested in doing server merges due to CTS token sales but that is absolutely false. We still want to shuffle population around to create some bigger worlds, but we need to see how AB and Nagafen will respond to the hardware upgrades first. This will have a big impact on how many worlds and which worlds will be merged. EQII population as a whole is very stable but people have been moving between servers which means that some populations shrink while others grow.

So it appears if the hardware changes go well there may be a couple server merges in EQ2's future. Not that I'm surprised considering the population complaints of some servers.

This double EXP weekend kicked ass, I got my Wizard to lvl 29 with 92 AA!! and there's still like 24 hours of it left!

Wow what a zone full of fail. Seriously who thought it'd be a good idea to put that much trash in the zone? It's like Palace of the ancient one, but worse cause the named are so pathetic and their loot is garbage.

Also who the heck came up with the idea for Raid loot that requires you to finish a quest to obtain? "Oooo a good weapon I'll bid 20DKP, oh crap now that I won it I have to run the zone 6 more times to finish the quest to get it." WTF

I cant see how any casual guild could enjoy this zone tbh. The trash has so much HP i can only imagine the frustration a starting up raid guild would have. Honestly starting out guilds would be better off just going to Tox's lair and Labs and killing the easy modes for useful gear.

So since I totally forgot to post and I'm currently bored good of time as any I guess.

Monday we took down everything up to Barrier in Roehn theer with eighteen people. Was interesting to say the least. Then after three failed attempts at barrier we move onto Tox's lair and killed it on easy mode. Pretty boring raid tbh.

It has been raining here all day and is cold and just plain shitty. Defintaly doesnt make me want to sit at my computer for two hours tonight. :/ I sense tonight being one of those Bleh nights.

Just as I expected, I forgot all about my blog. Which is okay since it's basically me ranting to myself anyways.

My break from raiding is now over, though in my time away our GoD lost a couple good players. Suprising what can happen in as little as 30 days.


New Halas, the bane of my existance and the cause for the removal of my favorite starting areas is fairly Bleh. If it wasnt for the fact I like my new Wizard and am playing with family I would have deleted the character the moment I set foot in the place.


Anyways, for anyone out there reading this, I hope to start updating it more often. Hopefully with more interesting content.

Took this month off from raiding in EQ2. Thus the lack of posts, Gu 56 went in today so I guess that means I'll have to check it out.

Qeynos and Freeport

Well yesterday a patch was pushed to test, in said patch the devs in their Unlimited knowledge(*rolls eyes*) Have decided Players should no longer start in Qeynos or Freeport because it puts them behind everyone else. Okay seriously? What a load of horse shit. This is clearly them being too lazy to get off their asses and upgrade the loot.

This means players will be forced to start in Gorowyn, Neriak, and Kelethin. The WORST starting zones in the game IMO. The cities are horribly arranged and the starting areas are tedious and boring after the first run through. At least with Q and F I could skip the isle all together if I wanted.

This is seriously the first time I've ever thought "Damn, I wish the new SR. Producer had scrapped all the devs current plans and prevented this BS from ever getting this far."


Congrats to all the devs who worked on this Removal of Q and F. For you have hit a new level of Fail that I never thought possible.


Kinda makes me wish people read this blog :(
